WE REACH BY TOUCCH
Our Mission and Journey
TOUCCH was founded and incorporated as a 501-c3 in 2008 out of an obligation Ms. Terry T. Rutherford felt to uplift her community Liberty City. Despite not having all the financial resources to incorporate, but a calling to push forward, she began envisioning what gaps she could fill in the community. As her ideas around being an advocate for early learners continued to develop, Ms. Terry’s friend was so inspired, she financed all the startup costs and Taking on United Childhood Challenges Harmoniously (TOUCCH) was founded around Ms. Terry’s dining room table with local residents, business owners, parents and grandparents. This impassioned group of stakeholders set out to transform the lives of young children in Liberty City and Overtown.
This would be done by creating actionable awareness for educators, families and the larger community. We believe that each member of this community is a valued contributor and by coming together--with neighbors, partners and consultants--we can create a community where all children thrive.
TOUCCH advocates and empowers early care and education centers, their educators, directors and owners in under-resourced communities to ensure high quality early care and education for all children.
